PRCDC ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY
The 2008 RDG Downtown Revitalization Plan recognized the former National Guard
Armory
as
one of the most prominent features of the downtown landscape,
“strongly contributing”
to the historic character of downtown Park Rapids.
The primary strategy for Park Rapids CDC will be to
develop Armory Square
as
a
significant
downtown anchor and community facility.
As a regional tourism destination
and cultural attraction,
redevelopment
of
Armory Square
will create
positive “spill-over” effects
throughout
the
community
of
Park rapids. As both a
historic landmark property
and destination venue,
this will improve the overall business
climate,
and
enhance the vitality of the
community
with new opportunities
for
downtown
commerce and increased employment.
